A name and a state licence

Each state sets its own exact rules, so the medical board in your state is the place to check them.

A legal name that appears in a state record

Compounded is not FDA-approved

Compounded medicines are the kind a pharmacy mixes to order. They get no FDA approval, and no FDA check of each one for safety, effectiveness or quality happens before sale.

“Withdrawn” is not “cleared”

The FDA’s list in September 2026 marked BPC-157 “nominated but withdrawn”. Groups asked that pharmacies be allowed to make medicines with it, then pulled those requests.

That status did not make BPC-157 approved, and it did not put BPC-157 on the list of ingredients pharmacies may use to make medicines.
